Hello,

This blog is being set up as a written account of my attempt over the next 45 days to finance a six week trip to Asia by playing sound poker at the local casino. It will be an outlet for my thoughts, reactions and experiences as I attempt to turn my present bankroll ($2000) into enough money to finance a summer trip. I will likely need to triple or quadruple my bankroll in order to be successful. I managed to finance a similar trip last year, in a similar time frame, and I hope to undertake the same methodology this year as well.

Unfortunately this year I have some added complications. 1) I need to devote significant time over the next three weeks to schoolwork, 2) I no longer have continued access to a vehicle so I will waste both time on public transport or money on taxi's and 3) my living situation is less conducive to that of a all-hours poker player.

Nevertheless I believe that will a little luck and a lot of discipline I can be successful in my endeavor.

Some ground rules:

1) I will have to play during ideal hours. Generally this means, late night/early morning (when players are at their sloppiest) peak weekend hours (friday night, Saturday night)

2) I will play predominantly at a 2-5 no limit tables, with small buy ins with the intention of getting a quick double up early on (between 200-250) The reality is that at these levels there is a lot of dead money pre-flop, which I can take advantage of.

3) I will be willing to play long sessions in order to wait out the favorable cards

4) I will be extremely disciplined in my play.

5) I will NOT under any circumstance gamble on any other game besides poker

The hope is that this blog will keep me disciplined and focused. I will update after each session, regardless of the results.

Wish me Luck

AVP (Asia Via Poker)
